Gourmet? Of course not...

September 11th, 2009 was the end of an era for me; my divorce was final and I was beginning a new episode of my life. So when the tadpoles go with the toad on Tuesday and Thursday nights, I head to my favorite Goodwill for some bargain-basement retail therapy.

You never know what you'll find at the Goodwill.  Most people think that it's a place where people dump all their unsold yard sale items from the prior Saturday; and it is. But many companies (especially Target) sell their surplus merchandise to the Goodwill. Many times I have bought a BRAND NEW Merona dress for $7.99 or a BN pair of Converse for $6.99!

I especially love the kitsch. You can find everything from a super-cool vintage Kitty Fireplace Match Holder to a Pendelton Tartan Wool Skirt. Tonight I found a beautiful ceramic Jelly Jar from Israel for $1.99.  A little treasure.

I also love the items that make no sense. For instance, if a Gucci bag is spelled with a "ch" it's probably a knock-off. Or if an item has to label itself "Gourmet", it probably isn't.

I had to run off to my Parks & Recreation class so I really didn't get a chance to terrorize the goods at the GW.  I really needed an hour to do some major damage. So go check out your neighborhood GW.  Hey, you'll be supporting a charity.
